It’s heating up and with the heat comes our favorite summer snacks to keep us cool. This is incredibly easy and fairly cheap to do and the kids can help. I definitely don’t recommend doing it daily but on those 90+ degree days this is one of our favorite and tasty ways to stay cool! SLUSHIES! There are literally dozens of ways to slushie but this is our favorite because of how quickly it can be done. We can make our drink and get right back to out day, and the kids can make their own in under 10 min and be back outside playing. The first time we did this was for my middle child’s birthday, we had a DIY slushie and cupcake station. Every extremely hot day since we break out the pop cycles and make a quick and fun cold drink. Depending on how big of a cup we use the amount of pop cycles we use varies but its typically 6-8 frozen and 2-4 not froze. The kids like rainbow, I like blue, the hubby likes green, whatever flavor it is you choose it will keep cool and quench your thirst! Below I have added some photos of the last one we made and little more detail on how to get make your drink into that slushie consistency we’re going for, but honestly it’s pretty straight forward. Just mix frozen and unfrozen pop cycles and drink that’s it. Have fun, stay cool, and enjoy!
We got several thermal cups with lids at Wal-Mart for under $10 each. They help keep the slushies from melting as fast. As I said just choose your favorite pop cycles both frozen and unfrozen and mix them together until you have the consistency you’d like. Sip slowly, you don’t want a brain freeze. Enjoy!
