Feed the penguin game!
Glue your penguin onto any type of small box then cut a mouth hole. We used a old shoe box with a handle to attach our penguin. It worked out very well, the kiddo can carry it around and it stores away easily. Next print your fish cards. I kept ours blank and laminated them to make them dry erase cards that way we can use them for multiple subjects like reading, spelling, math etc. but you could always alter yours before printing with whatever you’d like on them. All of my pdf downloads are open for edit always and I love seeing how everyone uses them!
We Play 2 ways. The first way we play is by having the kid(s) answer the questions alone. If they answer right they get to feed the penguin if it’s wrong the fish card gets put aside. If they get more right than wrong they get to choose a prize from our treasure chest we keep stocked with little things like stickers, tattoos, small toys, candy etc. The second way is playing with multiple players. The dry erase cards come in very handy for this way and it’s why I made the fish cards different colors. Each player chooses their color of fish cards with questions specific for them, focusing on things for their level/grade/age in the subjects they need to work on most, even if the subject is different from the other players. The game was created to help them learn so there’s no point in having them answer questions for something they don’t really need the help on. This also helps make sure that the game is more fair when the players are different ages/grades, it gives each player the same level of difficulty even when they may be doing different subjects. Who ever feeds the penguin the most fish wins!
You can get the pages to create your own in the penguin game pack 2 below. It’s a very simple game that was a very BIG hit in our house! Learning should always be fun! Let me know how it goes for y’all!
Adopt a penguin art project!
To the right is Little’s toilet paper roll penguin we made and then filled out an adoption form to go along with it. I loved this project for several reasons. It was incredibly easy to do, cost us no money, and very adorable, however the biggest reason is the adoption part. Obviously adopting an animal is very different from adopting a human child in several ways, one being you don’t always take the animals home with you but rather send money to support them which was the first thing we went over. Even though it is different and this was a fake situation the adoption form still opened us up for discussions about how not every family looks the same and that perfectly fine. That DNA is not what makes a family, blood is not the reason we love people. How luck we all are to have what we do and get to live the way we do, etc. These are all things we try our best to make sure all of our children know and understand always, but this project gave us the opportunity to dive into it deeper. We had a very long family talk that day. The kids learned a lot and now value their lives even more. At the end of the discussions they all said how lucky they felt. Our oldest is about to start college and has always wanted to major in social work or something to help disadvantage and/or troubled children, after everyone talking the oldest has said they are more sure now than ever that it’s the path they want to take. For that fact alone this small project that took us very little time to do was one of our most important thus far on our homeschooling journey!

Amazon Shopping List
I want to make it very clear that I do NOT get paid to promote anything on the lists in anyway, nor does anyone I know. The products are not sent to me/friends/family to review. I have found and used/researched these on my own. I spend a significant amount of time each month on amazon searching around to find the best products to aid in our homeschool journey at the best deals! Now you can benefit from my hours of work as well! I have put together lists of teaching aids, books, kits and more that may prove useful and helpful on your homeschool journey as well! I have also put together a list of family matching clothing, shoes and accessories. Our youngest is very much into matching mom, so every spring we choose a few matching outfits and things that are always a big hit with our friends and family. Everything we have bought or simply just considered is on the list. Please note the sizes and colors displayed may not be the matching item. Also some things may say out of stock, however it may only be for the size and/or color that was selected when the item was added to the list. Click on the item to check the availability of your desired sizes/colors for sure.
AGIAN, I want to make it very clear that I do not get paid to promote anything on the lists in anyway, nor does anyone I know. The products are not sent to me/friends/family to review. I have personally researched and/or used everything on the lists above myself, (aside from the family marching products, some of those were considered and viewed but not purchased) which is why I feel comfortable recommending these items to you. If anyone finds a recalled or poorly reviewed product on the list that I may have somehow missed PLEASE contact me and let me know! I hope you find these list and their contents as useful, helpful, and fun as we have! If there’s a type of shopping list you’d like to see created please feel free to send me the request and I will do my best to set it up asap! Enjoy and happy teaching!
