Last week we started our plant project. Below you will find a little about what that entailed as well as the links to buy some of the materials we are using for yourself. The project is still underway, but going well so far. The youngest has been getting really into bee’s for whatever reason, so that will be the focus of our next science project and worksheets, but the conversation opened us up to flowers and plants in general. Since we had already covered that topic a bit and it ties in directly with bee’s I thought it was a good place to start before diving into bees further. Being so close to Halloween we focused a lot on pumpkins this time. The pack of worksheets we have used and are planning to use throughout the month are also below for download.
This week starts our Tim Burton fun! I personally LOVE this guy. He makes the kind of movies I wish I had more of as a child. They are weird and odd, but fun and imaginative! It shows kids it’s ok to weird and different, which is a very important lesson in our opinion, especially given the fact that most people classify our family, kids included, as “weird” or at the very least “eccentric”. As we say in our home frequently “normal is nothing more than setting on a washing machine”. We really want our children to feel ok being whoever they choose to be and Tim’s movies honestly do help them understand it’s ok if people call them weird. People called Tim Burton weird, Disney rejected him and now he’s one of the most well know people in the world because he didn’t change, because he pushed forward in spite of being “weird”. So if you have a unique family, a little weirdo of your own, I hope ya’ll benefit from these worksheets and packs as much as our little weirdo has and continues to! And I hope all of our fellow weirdo’s out there know there is nothing wrong with being exactly who are!
The packs below are themed with a mix of 5 of our favorite Tim Burton movies: ParaNorman, Coraline, Frankenweenie, Corpse Bride, and of course Nightmare Before Christmas, which we will be coming back to again in December for Christmas, naturally. There are several more fun Halloween themed packs coming this month including more Tim Burton packs and Hocus Pocus next week! Always 100% FREE! No annoying ad’s! Check back frequently and share the fun around! I hope you have as much fun with these packs as we are!
This is our plants science project. Pee sprouts that grow in water alone (no soil needed), the life cycle of plants, and the parts of a plant. We have also been using the premade slides to look at a few other plants. The plant model you see is made of a soft material similar to a stress ball. It’s smaller than it appears on Amazon, but it works. You can find all the things we have used on the Amazon shopping list I created for ya’ll. Link below along with the pack of worksheets on the life cycle and parts of a pumpkin and the pages needed to make the mini pumpkin booklet you see to with the plant photos.
Amazon Shopping List
I want to make it very clear that I do NOT get paid to promote anything on the lists in anyway, nor does anyone I know. The products are not sent to me/friends/family to review. I have found and used/researched these on my own. I spend a significant amount of time each month on amazon searching around to find the best products to aid in our homeschool journey at the best deals! Now you can benefit from my hours of work as well! I have put together lists of teaching aids, books, kits and more that may prove useful and helpful on your homeschool journey as well! I have also put together a list of family matching clothing, shoes and accessories. Our youngest is very much into matching mom, so every spring we choose a few matching outfits and things that are always a big hit with our friends and family. Everything we have bought or simply just considered is on the list. Please note the sizes and colors displayed may not be the matching item. Also some things may say out of stock, however it may only be for the size and/or color that was selected when the item was added to the list. Click on the item to check the availability of your desired sizes/colors for sure.
AGIAN, I want to make it very clear that I do not get paid to promote anything on the lists in anyway, nor does anyone I know. The products are not sent to me/friends/family to review. I have personally researched and/or used everything on the lists above myself, (aside from the family marching products, some of those were considered and viewed but not purchased) which is why I feel comfortable recommending these items to you. If anyone finds a recalled or poorly reviewed product on the list that I may have somehow missed PLEASE contact me and let me know! I hope you find these list and their contents as useful, helpful, and fun as we have! If there’s a type of shopping list you’d like to see created please feel free to send me the request and I will do my best to set it up asap! Enjoy and happy teaching!
