Tim Burton & Rube Goldberg!

It’s been a while since I have created a math game. To be honest no part of math up to this point has been an issue for the kiddo, numbers just seem to click in that tiny head. But for whatever reason Little has been having some issues with odds and evens. I’m not sure why this is the one area of math causing issues, but it seemed like the perfect time for a new game! We have been using it for a few days now and it seems to be helping and the kid thinks it’s pretty fun. It’s also helping with math memory as well! I also created a new Tim Burton memory game pack for the younger kiddos! Be sure to check out the other games, Tim Burton and Halloween packs recently uploaded and check back for more soon!

This game was designed to help learn odd and even numbers but it also helps with math memory. There are 3 different Tim Burton themes in this pack! Directions to play are in the download!
8 different memory game pages to be used separately or in combination to make a bigger memory game!
34 worksheets. Borrowing and carrying math, even and odd numbers, sentences, word searches, compound words and more!
13 pages with over 20 different Tim Burton bookmarks! Check out some of our favorite books on the Amazon shopping list I have put together for ya’ll. Link below!

Looking for a fun science project? Check out our ongoing plant project or one of the other projects on the Science page all with the downloads and/or links to buy everything you need to do it yourself! While we are waiting on the results of our plant project we have also been working on this weeks STEM lesson. Studying Rube Goldberg machines! For those of you that may not know what that is; a Rube Goldberg machine, named after American cartoonist Rube Goldberg, is a machine intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and overly complicated way. Engineers study different designs of them still today! There have even been competitions to see who can build the best RG machine for a selected task, one of the most popular ones being the national Rube Goldberg contest! Depending on the contest entered, among other things, winning has resulted in large cash prizes, scholarship funding, and/or job offers. Not a bad thing for the kids to learn, it may pay off in a big way for them one day!

I have been fascinated with these creative gizmos for years, since the very first time someone set up the “Mouse Trap” game for us to play! If you’re looking for a good example of a Rube Goldberg machine is that game would be my top recommendation, especially for beginners. It’s a very fun way to introduce these amazingly fun machines to younger children. We have also taken this opportunity to start learning about note taking skills and good study hobbits since testing will start soon for our youngest. I know a lot of homeschoolers don’t give test, but this is a pretty good project to start learning about test prep in my opinion since it has a fairly simple explanation and we have the game for a physical representation. If you don’t own this game already I definitely recommend buying it especially if you’re planning to dive into Rube Goldberg machines yourselves! Also watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for another fun example of a RG machine!

Amazon Shopping List

I want to make it very clear that I do NOT get paid to promote anything on the lists in anyway, nor does anyone I know. The products are not sent to me/friends/family to review. I have found and used/researched these on my own. I spend a significant amount of time each month on amazon searching around to find the best products to aid in our homeschool journey at the best deals! Now you can benefit from my hours of work as well! I have put together lists of teaching aids, books, kits and more that may prove useful and helpful on your homeschool journey as well! I have also put together a list of family matching clothing, shoes and accessories. Our youngest is very much into matching mom, so every spring we choose a few matching outfits and things that are always a big hit with our friends and family. Everything we have bought or simply just considered is on the list. Please note the sizes and colors displayed may not be the matching item. Also some things may say out of stock, however it may only be for the size and/or color that was selected when the item was added to the list. Click on the item to check the availability of your desired sizes/colors for sure.

AGIAN, I want to make it very clear that I do not get paid to promote anything on the lists in anyway, nor does anyone I know. The products are not sent to me/friends/family to review. I have personally researched and/or used everything on the lists above myself, (aside from the family marching products, some of those were considered and viewed but not purchased) which is why I feel comfortable recommending these items to you. If anyone finds a recalled or poorly reviewed product on the list that I may have somehow missed PLEASE contact me and let me know! I hope you find these list and their contents as useful, helpful, and fun as we have! If there’s a type of shopping list you’d like to see created please feel free to send me the request and I will do my best to set it up asap! Enjoy and happy teaching!
