We made a felt cornucopia. I cut several fruits and veggies chosen by Little, hot glued them to stings, then to the inside of the cornucopia to prevent losing any. This was a very easy project that gave us a great opportunity to review and talk more about food groups! Which food groups we used, which were missing, and other foods in each group. We also went over why they are important, what is and isn’t healthy, the importance of eating “junk” in moderation and making sure to get the recommended amount of each. Below you’ll see photos of our felt cornucopia! Above you’ll find a pack to make your own paper ones! There’s also a couple of cute crafts I found online.

We started this little tradition not many years ago and have since evolved it. We have always gone around the table and said what we are thankful for every year like so many families do, but a few years back the youngest asked if we could make a thankful tree! It was a last minute request so I scrambled to find something to use to make the tree. All I could find at the time was an old cardboard box and thankfully construction paper which we always have on hand. My husband cut several different style leaf’s in a few different colors then kiddo passed them out and we all wrote something we are thankful for. After we went around the table and read our leaf’s we glued them to the tree that we had placed in a mason jar we decorated to be a candle holder centerpiece and added colored stones to hold it steady. That evening we hung the tree on the wall where it has remained reminding us of the thanksgiving the tradition started. Now every year we do something different as our thankful project! I added a few photos below of things we have found and used over the years for some inspiration. Get your thankful pack that contains several worksheets your children can use to say what they are thankful for and other fun holiday downloads above!
