I have seen activities like this all over the internet but normally much smaller and with a handful of small plastic dinos. I loved the idea but I wanted to go a little further with it. I made our dig site with safe top soil and small gravel in a small baby pool pictured to the right. We used a garden spade and a paint brush (.98 cents Wal-Mart) to dig and clean. I used a few plastic dinos but I really wanted the kids to be able to find bones, closer to a real dig experience. We have Halloween bone decor things I could have used but they aren’t dinos and that’s what we were going for. I printed on cardstock and laminated to keep them safe while covered. The paper bones can be harder to find so I didn’t put them to far down but made sure they were all covered. I used T-rex paper skeleton pieces buried separately so they could be found and then put together like a paleontologist! We had a lot of fun with the dig, and after the dinos were all found we had some added fun with trucks!
