Me!

Just a few of my collectibles, many of which are signed by some of my favs!
Part of the poster I made (pictured above) to have signed by some of our favorite “geek/nerd” culture celebs! New autographs with every Comic Con!

Such beautiful creatures! Please give them the respect they deserve, and consider donating to one of the many shark/ocean conservations!

One of my absolute favorite shark photos! This breach was epic to watch on shark week!

SHOES! SHOES! SHOES! Incase y’all thought I was joking, this is currently every pair in my collection! 🤣😂

If you’d like inside look into our daily life you can follow me on Instagram and/or Facebook. I’m never sure what to write on these things. Not that I’m in denial or don’t know who I am, I definitely do, I’m just never sure about how much I should actually share. So here I go….

Simply put…. I’m just a “29 and holding” year old tattooed, nerdy, shark loving, shoe collecting, cuss word spewing, wife, mother, and now (way to young) grandmother (or as my Teeny-tiny granddaughter calls me, Mom-Mom). I have been married to my handsome, amazing, and yes, at times frustrating husband for 10 years, though we’ve been together for almost 15 now. I have a 20 year old daughter (the mother of my first, and only granddaughter, almost 2 years old now), 17 year old son (who has, and still does, test us in literally every way imaginable), and our youngest, 8 (going on 18) year old daughter.

I have been a stay at home mom for a while now and it’s definitely my favorite job by far, but it’s not just a job to me it’s the entire way I live my life. I am a mother fully dedicated and determined to give my children the best education and life I possibly can. Everything I do is centered around my family. Obviously that’s not the life for everyone and not every stay at home mother views the “stay at home mom” roll as I do, but it’s how my grandmother lived, and that was always something I admired about her and aspire to be now. Growing up all I ever wanted was to be like her. I was lucky enough to meet someone that provides so that I may live my life as my grandmother lived hers. Although there is absolutely no way I’ll ever be even half the wife, mother, and woman she was, I’m sure as hell going to spend my life trying. My grandmother is actually the reason I started on the path to reach out and help as many homeschoolers as possible. I am NOT perfect. I cuss like a sailor and have no filter for any of the things that come out of my mouth. I’d rather do anything else in the world than my sink of dishes, and I loathe doing laundry. (Who doesn’t right?) I LOVE sharks and shoes to a fault. (Seriously, I probably spend way more on shoes than any one woman should. Not for a single pair, just over all. It’s a “problem” y’all, 114 pairs and counting! And there are sharks all over my house, most of all my room, I even sleep with one! 🤣😂) I haven’t had a set schedule in almost 15 years, and apparently I’m incredibly spoiled, so I’m told. (It’s honestly just how my whole life has been so I don’t really notice I guess, my grandparents started it and my husband took over.) I can basically do whatever I want, whenever I want. But, I’m anti-social AF, so doing “whatever I want” almost always happens at home, with the exception of shoe shopping (which is honestly mostly done online now), the aquarium (maybe once a year), and Comic Con (sadly only once or twice a year, but it is my perfect happy place, the only place on Earth I feel I can truly be me completely free of any judgment). My life isn’t glamorous. I’m not rich, I don’t have the fanciest car, or the biggest house…. What I do have is amazing kids, an unbelievably incredible husband, a wonderful family, a house filled with love and laughter and a truly magnificent shoe and “nerd” memorabilia collection. It’s not an especially impressive life, but it’s mine, and it’s a pretty happy one.

My homeschooling journey: I have been homeschooling my children (and assisting in homeschooling my nieces, nephews, and a few friends children), on and off for about 15 years, and homeschooling my youngest consistently for almost 8 years now. I don’t have a teaching degree; I do have a collage education, just not in teaching. I’m not a pro teacher, and I am NOT trying to come across as a “know it all”. I don’t presume to be an expert at any of this. If I’m being completely honest, I have no f#@!ing clue what I’m doing from one day to the next. 😂😂 Not just with the homeschooling, but life in general. Anyone that tells you they have their s@#t completely figured out is lying their a$$ off. We’re all figuring it out day by day the best we can. I’m just passing along some of the things that have worked for me and mine, hoping it helps some of y’all figure some things out easier and/or faster than I did.

I have researched homeschooling, teaching methods, special education techniques, etc. for years, but I really started studying everything when I found out I was pregnant for the 3rd time. I knew with the decline of the public schools in our area I was absolutely going to homeschool. I now spend around 40 hours a week on homeschool related things (research, curriculum, this site, etc). I still constantly (and a little obsessively) research anything and everything pertaining to homeschooling, literally anything I think is relevant or will become relevant in the future, I look into it, typically in great depth, and for probably far too many days. On top of doing everything that comes with being a housewife/stay at home mom, I make custom worksheets and lesson plans specific to my children’s learning abilities and interest; literally everything that goes along with homeschooling is built around my children. But, as I said I’m not a pro so I’m consonantly learning how to do all of this right along with my children, while attempting to figuring out this whole life thing like the rest of you. Which means I’m basically always exhausted! 🤣😂

So, if you came to this site looking for definitive answers, direction, or a certain expertise on the topic, I am sorry to say, you are in the wrong place. I’m going along day by day, constantly changing and/or improving our lessons and methods along with our lives; that’s what you’ll find here. I’m sharing things that we have been through, what has worked for us or completely failed us, and how I may have altered or improved things for our family and schooling. I’ll pass along materials we use, resources & info I find/have, stories and/or my point of view (or thoughts) on certain situations and schooling, and anything else I can think of pertaining to this journey we are all on, and hopefully it all gives you ideas and/or help in some way.

The goal of this site….

As I have said, I don’t know if I’m doing this whole school/parenting thing right any more than I know if I’m doing the life thing right. I don’t know how my kids or their lives are going to turn out, and like so many parents I’m constantly worried that I’m screwing them up in some way. I’m in no position (nobody is in my opinion) to tell anyone they are right or wrong about how they are homeschooling or living, and I don’t have many definite answers for you. I try my best to raise good, smart, kind kids, that will grow into well rounded adults that are better than myself in every way. All I’m doing with the HHD site and other platforms is passing along the things I have learned and went through in hopes that it helps some of you out there! Or at the very least entertains you. Honestly, I just want to do something here that my grandmother would be proud of. Bottom line.

My hope is to make your homeschooling journey a bit easier. I’m not trying to get rich, everything I offer is always FREE! Sign up for the mailing list below, and save even more time by getting packs mailed straight to your inbox the moment they are posted. Regardless of how many followers this site gets, I’ll be here, posting, sharing, and helping in anyway I can at least once a week!

I know my site may not be as fancy as similar ones out there, but that was never my goal going into this. I’m not as concerned with the look of the site as I am with making it user friendly. I did my best to design this site to be as simple to use and as helpful as possible. I’m going to keep the site very basic so you can always navigate quickly and efficiently. There are so many great homeschool blogs and sites, but the are typically focused on sharing articles. The ones that do offer a few downloadable things such as worksheets, aren’t always free, and the ones that are free almost always have a catch to them. You have to sign up to download, answer questionnaires, or only get a small number of things free in a certain amount of time. I follow many of these blogs myself, but I wanted to create a sort of one stop homeschool site that was truly FREE! So no, this site may not be fancy, but hopefully it will still offer some much needed help.

I occasionally do blog post in hopes that some of the posts will help on some way, and I do greatly enjoy writing, even if most people today would rather watch videos than read. 😂 Some blog entries have materials list, links, and downloads you’re sure to enjoy, other may be just text and photos. Either way I hope you’ll get something out of it, even if it’s just a giggle. The blog is NOT my main focus for this site though, you will find so much more than that here. From worksheets and packs to Amazon shopping list and educational YouTube playlists filled with several amazing YouTubers, I have done my best to include everything I could think of that a homeschooling family would want and/or need. If I have it or have ever used it successfully, you’ll find it here!

Any recommendations you see from me I have personally used and/or checked out to make sure it is completely safe and useful. I am not being paid to promote anything you see on the site, nor would I ever recommend something I didn’t personally believe to be safe and helpful regardless of how much money they’d pay me. Feel free to reach out via e-mail or message on the contact page if you have any questions or request. I sincerely hope this site helps everyone that visits in some way, big or small. So click around, scroll through every page, and enjoy!

Amazon Shopping List

I want to make it very clear that I do NOT get paid to promote anything on the lists in anyway, nor does anyone I know. The products are not sent to me/friends/family to review. I have found and used/researched these on my own. I spend a significant amount of time each month on amazon searching around to find the best products to aid in our homeschool journey at the best deals! Now you can benefit from my hours of work as well! I have put together lists of teaching aids, books, kits and more that may prove useful and helpful on your homeschool journey as well! I have also put together a list of family matching clothing, shoes and accessories. Our youngest is very much into matching mom, so every spring we choose a few matching outfits and things that are always a big hit with our friends and family. Everything we have bought or simply just considered is on the list. Please note the sizes and colors displayed may not be the matching item. Also some things may say out of stock, however it may only be for the size and/or color that was selected when the item was added to the list. Click on the item to check the availability of your desired sizes/colors for sure.

AGIAN, I want to make it very clear that I do not get paid to promote anything on the lists in anyway, nor does anyone I know. The products are not sent to me/friends/family to review. I have personally researched and/or used everything on the lists above myself, (aside from the family marching products, some of those were considered and viewed but not purchased) which is why I feel comfortable recommending these items to you. If anyone finds a recalled or poorly reviewed product on the list that I may have somehow missed PLEASE contact me and let me know! I hope you find these list and their contents as useful, helpful, and fun as we have! If there’s a type of shopping list you’d like to see created please feel free to send me the request and I will do my best to set it up asap! Enjoy and happy teaching!
